"Peaceful Snowy Cabin"

Continuing on with my walk in the snow yesterday. I took this shot of a cabin that I've taken images of earlier in the year. You can look back on the blog to see what it looks like during the summer from inside, and out.
It was quite a peaceful, and serene scene as I walked around.
It did also, get me thinking about how it must have been for the actual family of long ago living in a cabin like this. What winter would have been like for them. No place to really get warm.
It may seem charming looking at it from our modern day vantage point, but the reality was actually quite a harsh and challenging existence! It makes me thankful to have been born in a time when we have all the modern conveniences that we sometimes take for granted.

  1. A family gathering around the fire was certainly more than just a "quality time" thing! This is a great image Rachel. I love the contrasting lines in the cabin between the snow and the wood. Fabulous.

  2. After spending a week without power, I better appreciate what the people who lived in these cabins went through. Nice image Rachel

  4. Wonderful image, Rachel. Nicely done. It also reminds me of the type of place my great-grandfather had. Thanks for sharing this... :-)
